The Butcher Boy

The Butcher Boy

Author: Patrick McCabe
Title: The Butcher Boy

This was a nominee for the Booker Prize.

This is a great tale told in a stream of conciousness with a heavy Irish accent. It was called a masterpiece by several reviewers – not too sure if I’d rate it that highly, but it was definitely fun watching the poor boy go mad after a sequence of nasty events. He was genetically disposed towards madness, but the book points out the easy path that we could all tread from sanity to insanity.
